What inspires you to live a healthy life?

What a great question and a big one!

Living a healthy life isn’t the easiest choice. It requires planning to go to the grocery store and make healthy meal choices. Or, scheduling time for exercise. Sure, you could just kick off your shoes after a long day but you don’t. I think that’s pretty awesome.

We all have our reasons for wanting to live a bit healthier. For some, it might be to be more active with our kids or younger people in our lives. For others, the children are fully-grown and on their own so it feels like now is the time to get healthy.

Some may be following doctors orders and are restricted to a special diet. While another is doing it for a special event such as a wedding, to get ready for a baby, a family reunion or a graduation. Maybe it’s just to look great on a date or anniversary with someone special.

Or maybe you’ve set your sights higher! Maybe you’re looking to climb the next mountain like Esther and Martin Kafer the oldest couple to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society of BC! Or run your first marathon, or 10 k or even 5 k run.

Whatever your reason, we think you’re pretty awesome for doing it. If you’ve made PGX part of the journey, we thank you and are proud to be a part of it!

Healthy Treats: Popsicles

A Health Treat for Everyone!

These healthy popsicles are perfect for when the weather gets a little warmer.  They make a healthy treat that is great for kids – of all ages!

The ingredients are fresh and delicious! Plus, you can mix and match. If you’re not a fan of cherries try something you do like. I think raspberries would add a ton of flavour. So all the way from SwaggerDad.com we present to you this poplar recipe that is working it’s way around the world wide web!

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups watermelon puree (seedless if possible)
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh strawberries
  • 1 kiwi, peeled and sliced
  • 1 peach or nectarine, diced small
  • Handful fresh cherries, pitted and chopped

Directions:

  1. Cut the watermelon into chunks and then puree it in a blender until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Set out about 1 dozen popsicle molds (amount needed will vary depending on size of molds). Fill each one with the chopped fresh fruit. Then pour in the watermelon puree until each mold is full to the top. Place a popsicle stick into each one.
  3. Place into your freezer and freeze for about 6 to 8 hours.

Tip: When ready to serve, run the popsicle molds under warm water for a few seconds and then pull each one out.

Summer breeze, makes me feel fine.

The familiar smell of fresh cut grass tells me that spring is in the air, and summer is right around the corner.

With warmer temperatures arriving this week, I’ve noticed that people seem just a little bit happier. I’ve also noticed that the outfits are getting lighter and brighter for the upcoming season. If you’re like me, you’re taking a good look at your wardrobe and thinking maybe it’s time for an update.

No matter your size or shape we have put together some must have pieces that will make you feel a little lighter and brighter this summer.

Beach Dress: I bet you already have one or two in your closet! They are fun to wear and are great for those really hot days. Slip on a light jacket and you’re ready to go from the beach to the office!

Tank Tops: You can wear them under shirts, jackets, dresses, etc. they are very versatile and a great way to quickly freshen up your wardrobe.

Capris/Cropped Pants: If you must wear pants, chose materials that are lighter than denim. You won’t be as hot wearing them. Wear your cropped pants with a kitten heel, pump or wedge to help elongate your leg. They will transition nicely from spring into summer!

What fun clothes do you look forward to wearing in the summer months?

Our gift to you. A FREE workout schedule!

Free Workout Schedule

If you haven?t worked out in a long time, or you?re just starting for the first time, your main goal for the first few weeks will be to stick to it and adjust to working out.

Create a Workout Schedule.

One of the biggest excuses for skipping a workout is due to a busy schedule. To stay motivated and hold yourself accountable, get out a calendar or use this free workout schedule, and figure out what days you can fit in a workout. Everytime you workout, check it off your schedule. Each checkmark will keep you motivated to continue! I suggest putting it somewhere you’ll see it everyday, like on the fridge in the kitchen.

Commit to Getting Fit!

Now that you have a workout schedule and your goals are set, it’s time to focus on nutrition. For almost everyone, the math is simple: your body has to burn more calories than it consumes. There are 3,500 calories in one pound of fat. If you burn 500 more calories than you consume each day, theoretically you will lose one pound a week. Although PGX does not burn calories, it can make eating fewer calories each day much easier for you, helping with portion control.

My Tip: Use a goal such as a vacation or new outfit as motivation to keep going!

Hey, are you trying to get fit? Let me know!
