Recipe: #Healthy Homemade Oatmeal

A quick and tasty recipe for a healthy breakfast in the morning.

When you’re trying to eat right, breakfast can be one of the most difficult meals of the day to do so. More often than not, we’re in a rush in the morning and, although we know we should, we rarely make eating a healthy breakfast a priority.

But what many of us don’t realize, is that a healthy breakfast doesn’t have to take hours to prepare, nor does it have to be anything overly elaborate. What’s important is that that it is packed with nutrients and healthy ingredients to help fuel your body for the day ahead; which, with the right ingredients, can be fairly simple! Below is a quick, easy, and above all else, healthy oatmeal and fruit recipe for all of you busy PGX’ers out there.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup of pecans
  • 1/2 cup of raisins
  • 1/3 cup of sunflower seeds
  • 2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • honey, to taste
  • seasonal berries
  • 1 packet of PGX Daily granules

Directions:

  1. Mix rolled oats, pecans, raisins, sunflower seeds and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  2. Dish out mixture into an individual serving bowl (you will have leftovers for a second bowl or for breakfast tomorrow – yay!).
  3. Add water to your individual bowl and microwave for a minute and a half.
  4. Add Greek yogurt, PGX granules and berries.
  5. Drizzle honey over top and enjoy!

Weight Loss: 5 Tips to Achieve Your New Year’s Resolution!

5 tips on how to achieve your weight loss and fitness goals.

We know. It’s only January 3rd, commonly known as “Day 3” amongst the New Year’s Resolutions crowd, and you’re already worried about not being able to live up to your goals. However, although we know that there will be challenges along the way in achieving any goal, when it comes to weight loss and fitness, we’ve got some ideas on how to help you achieve them!

5 Ways to Help You Achieve Your Weight Loss Goals:

  1. Start slow. Just because it’s a new year, doesn’t mean that you are all of a sudden going to be able to do things you couldn’t do before, like lift those heavier weights or do 100 pushups. Start slow and make sure you’re comfortable with the pace. As exercises become easier, gradually increase the difficulty or amount of time or repetitions.
  2. Workout in the morning. If you’re someone who feels utterly exhausted at the end of each day, heading the gym at that point is going to be very difficult for you. Don’t let this stop you! Try heading to the gym or going for a run before your day begins.
  3. Throw out your scale. While it may be very tempting to weigh in every day, this will only serve to discourage you. It’s very hard to see a difference from day to day (and we’re only on Day 2!). If you absolutely must weigh in, try making it a monthly thing rather than a daily one.
  4. Eat well. Don’t think that exercise is the only way to achieve your weight loss and fitness goals. You need to supplement your workouts with healthy eating. Prevent overeating and support your lifestyle changes with PGX .
  5. Get more sleep. By increasing the amount of sleep you get, you will improve your energy levels and be able to be more active throughout the day, increasing the amount of potential calories you could burn!

Stay healthy, PGX’ers!

Hop Off the Blood Sugar Roller Coaster

The ride is finally over. Get your blood sugar levels back in check with PGX.

Considering the food landscape within our modern society, most of the foods that we consume in the Western diet are highly processed. “Fast foods” especially are laden with highly refined carbohydrates, which are rapidly digested by the body, causing excessive peaks in our blood sugar levels after we eat. As a result, our bodies tend to release insulin to bring blood sugar back down again, creating chronic blood sugar level imbalances. With an imbalance, blood sugar levels erratically rise and fall, which may have led to the name “the blood sugar roller coaster.”

Cue PGX:

PGX Daily helps control and balance blood sugar levels by counteracting the effects of carbohydrate-heavy meals. How does PGX do this? By helping you feel fuller faster and satisfied longer due to its highly viscous fibre complex. When added to your meals, or consumed pre-meal, PGX can help slow down your digestion. PGX also slows the conversion of carbohydrates and other foods into sugar, resulting in a more gradual release of glucose into the bloodstream. This means that blood sugar levels are less likely to spike when using PGX. And when they don’t spike, blood sugar levels don’t tend to fall far enough to trigger excess production of insulin.
