Train Like an Angel!

It's not all fluff and poses for the Victoria's Secret models. They work to be runway ready!

Whether you are interested in fashion or not, you have undoubtedly seen many many times, images and ads of terrifyingly thin models and photoshopped movie stars floating around. Almost everywhere we look now, there they are: skinny girls and doctored photographs setting an impossibly high and unhealthy standard for body image.

Here's a different image of a model:

It is refreshing to see a company and it's models promote a healthier lifestyle and share their workouts. Yes, these women still seem incredibly small but at least we know they actually work for their figures. Aside from the videos they share, here's another tid bit to consider: many of the wings they wear on the runway are actually quite heavy! These models have put up to 50 pounds of extra weight on their backs while still keeping their walk tall and stilettos firmly on the ground!

In preparation for this year's show, they've started sharing new videos and tips from celebrity trainer, Justin Gelband, to help viewers and fans "Train Like an Angel!"

Discover the Top 10 Workouts for Fall!

Get out of the gym and into shape!

Autumn is here and with this season, comes colder weather; and with the colder weather often comes heartier appetites and occasions for comfort food. I know that I have to make even more of a conscious effort to eat well, exercise and not to become a winter couch critter! But does the chilly weather mean I have to go the gym?

Just because summer is over, doesn't mean you have to workout indoors! It's true that when the rain and cold weather comes, it's not as appealing to go outside but I think these fun outdoor fitness activities might change your mind!

Fox News shares their Top 10 Fall Workouts that will help keep you in shape and having so much fun not matter how many layers you may need to put on! 

My personal favourite on that list is Ultimate Frisbee. Although...I wouldn't mind raking a huge pile of leaves and jumping in! Get outside and enjoy the fall colours and crisp air. Just remember to bundle up!

It's the weekend and PGX wants to help you spice up your exercise routine!

Lately there have been several new fitness activities trending in the Health & Fitness blogs. These new activities have us intrigued and here at PGX we want to try a couple out this weekend. We've gathered a few of our favourites that we've discovered on the web and would love to share them with you. It's a great way to add some fun to your regular workout and you might even end up loving it and making it a regular occurrence!

Hot Trends To Try:

  • Have you been inspired by the recent Tour de France? Find all the helpful basics here.
  • Standup Paddling is the newest trend this year - a great workout for your core.
  • Have you heard of Cross-Fit? It's an intense workout but with great results. Here is a Q&A all about it.

Your Fitness Goals:

  • Triathlons appeared in the Olympics in 2000 and have become even more popular with beginner/intermediate fitness lovers over the past few years.
  • If running is more your thing, there's an enormous amount of marathons, half marathons and runs offered. Check out how to pick the right race for you.

And after all that sweat and hard work, it's nice to cool off with a healthy treat!

Hey PGX'ers! What are you up to this weekend?

Tough Mudder 2012 is hitting Whistler Olympic Park this weekend!

Organized by the British Special Forces, Tough Mudder is an adventure challenge designed to test your strength, stamina, mental grit and comaraderie while raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project. This weekend several of my fellow employees are stepping up to the plate and participating in this year's event.
